BaltSe@nior – Development for seniors

The project

BaltSe@nior is a collaboration between a number of Scandinavian and Baltic partners, which addresses the topic: Smart solutions in furniture and interior products for the growing population of the elderly.

The goal is to develop a platform where companies get access to knowledge and results from both the project but also other researchers and experts to develop their own business – among other things. knowledge of the target group’s needs and how to exploit the potential of this powerful, growing target group. Older people today have a much greater attitude to what products they want and what they should be able to and what they should look like than previous generations of older people, which is why knowledge of the needs and wishes of the elderly is important.
The project partners can be seen here.

BaltSe@nioR is co-financed by the European Union Regional Development Fund and is a project under the Interreg Baltic Sea Region program.

The task

Baltse@nior is an Interreg Baltic Sea Region project, which aims across the countries bordering the Baltic Sea, to support and help furniture and interior design companies with knowledge, tools and methods to develop and market products to the growing population of older. The project builds on a previous BSR Stardust Pilot project.

The task is to design and develop a so-called Virtual Library, a knowledge platform where designers, students, researchers and companies can find and share inspiration and knowledge about product development for the senior target group.

The solution

Based on knowledge from questionnaire surveys among the various target groups (they formed the basis for our use case descriptions) and user journey workshops, Design Concern has designed and developed a web-based knowledge platform: Balt Se@nior Virtual Library.

Balt Se@nior Virtual Library is built in Umbraco and is the place to search and share knowledge about seniors and about the development of products and furniture for seniors.
The platform is targeted at furniture manufacturers, designers, developers, researchers and companies who must develop furniture that meets the special needs of seniors. The platform must present knowledge and data from the entire region and also preferably from other places.
A Virtual Library has been developed here where you can share documents and create a forum where you can communicate directly with other users.

You can see the platform here:

With the BaltSeanior platform, we have a user-friendly forum where partners from the Baltic countries can share knowledge in connection with the development of products for seniors.
