01.
Have you got the structure right?
When building a website, it’s important to think about the most optimal way to construct your company’s website. It takes a lot to plan the structure and navigation of a website so that it is as user-friendly as possible. If your website is not user-friendly and intuitive, you can be sure that it will damage your website and that visitors will not come back. You need to think in terms of your customers’ needs and your customers’ visiting patterns. It’s no good if they can’t see where the shopping basket is, when you’re creating a webshop, or if there’s no contact information in the case that visitors want to know more.
02.
Do you have your target audience in mind?
It is important that you have your target audience in focus, as they are the ones who will see your product. Your company website should appeal to your target audience’s needs, interests, and way of acting, and your website should reflect your company’s DNA. If you don’t understand the customer journey of your target audience, you’re not creating relevant content for them. You need to have a clear picture of the journey your potential customers are on from first seeing your website up till the action you want them to take.
03.
Do you have a handle on how you convert?
You probably also have an expectation of specifically wanting your future visitors to take an action, a so-called conversion. A conversion could be that the visitor fills in a contact form, signs up for your newsletter, or makes a purchase. It is therefore essential that your website supports this purpose, whereby the chances of conversions on your website increase. There are many ways to do this, and most of the time it is actually easier to double your conversion rate than to double your traffic. It is therefore important that you optimise your website for conversions so that you get as many conversions as possible.
04.
Do you have responsiveness under control?
It’s also important to remember that most people today view your website through a tablet or mobile phone. Therefore, your website should be designed with the intention that it can be viewed and adapted in such a way that it is user-friendly and approachable from all devices. This is called responsive design and aims to make your website automatically adapt – depending on the device your visitors are using.
05.
Do you know if your solution is future-proof?
It’s also important that you choose a future-proof solution, so you don’t have to start from scratch in a few years’ time. The website should be easy to update and maintain, so that there is not just one developer in the country who can help update and maintain the site. This is for both content and security reasons. Everything digital is constantly evolving, so it is important that your website isn’t static but keeps up with this evolution.
06.
Do you have a handle on SEO?
And then there is something called search engine optimisation, also known as SEO. SEO is the work of optimising a website based on factors that search engines look at when ranking websites. If you take the time to look at these factors, more people will be able to find your website and you will rank higher on Google. Spending time on SEO is worth its weight in gold, but it can also be quite an ordeal if you’re not familiar with it.
